North Star Central Elementary Reading Counts Program

Students in 2nd through 4th grade will have the opportunity to use the Scholastic Reading Counts program to earn incentives during the school year.  The basic idea of the program is that students read books that are included in the program (not all books are) and then log on to the program and take a multiple choice quiz independently.

*All library books that are part of the program will have a color sticker on the spine of the book.  Red= 1st grade reading level, Blue=2nd grade reading level, Green=3rd grade reading level, ect.

Points goal for students in each grade to attend each party: 2nd grade- 12 points, 3rd grade- 18 points, 4th grade- 25 points

*You can check if a book is in the program at this website: https://readingcountsbookexpert.tgds.hmhco.com/

Rewards that can be earned or won: 3 parties throughout the school year, additional party and prizes for earning 100 points or more, ice cream, chances to win a bike and more… look at the monthly calendar sent home for dates for parties and dates points must be earned by!

Rules and expectations:

Students are expected to read the book they are taking a test on beforehand.

Students are not allowed to look for answers to the questions in the book.

Students are expected to complete their quiz independently; any help given or asked for will be considered cheating.

*If a student is found to be using the program unfairly, he/she will no longer be allowed to participate in our Reading Counts Incentive program.
