Reading Counts
Reading Counts is a school wide, independent reading program for students in first through fourth grade. Students read books independently and then take a quiz on the book on the computer to earn points. There are various individual, grade level and school wide incentives through out the year for reaching the points goal set.
Individual Student Goals for each party:
1st Grade- 8 points
2nd Grade- 12 points
3rd Grade- 18 points
4th Grade- 25 points
From September to November, students worked to reach their individual goal in order to attend the Country Hoedown Dance Party with special guest Nikki Wild from Froggy 95.
Students are currently working to reach their individual goal by mid February in order to attend the Mexican Fiesta themed party.
Finally, students will work from February to April to reach their individual goal in order to attend the Ice Cream Sundae Party.
Grade Level Goals:
1st Grade- 1,200 points
2nd Grade- 3,500 points
3rd Grade- 4,200 points
4th Grade- 5,000 points
Individual student points are then compiled by grade level. If the grade level reaches their set goal, students will have the chance to splash one of their teachers with water balloons at the end of the year.
Finally, if each grade level reaches their goal then the students will get the chance to splash their principal, Mrs. Lepley, with water balloons at the end of the year.
